Hey, Todd! The bottom leg openings for our UA Alpha pants in size 40 are 8 7⁄8 inches. They aren't tapered, but feature a slim fit.

They also use a fluorine-free water repellent treatment which the UA Tactical Elite pants do not, and the material of the Alpha's is slightly different with a 91% Polyester/9% Elastane blend of fabric.
